i made these baby blankets, i love them, grey with a pop of color. i dont have a baby, so these are going up in the shop :-)

AWESOME CROCHET BLANKET

crochet blanket with 3d squares - LOVE it! handgehaakt.blogspot.com
I know i've complained here about crocheting blankets, it takes forever to finish one. But then i saw an AWESOME blanket that i just have to make. I havent got a clue where i'm going to find the time, but i just love this one.
It's from the blog of Pescnos Frirum, but... its in Danish, so i'll try to translate it, or is anybody reading this very good in Danish?

WILDWOOD - AGAIN!

Here's me shamelessly talking yet again about my favorite book. I've ordered the 2nd book for Sarah's birthday, but also ordered it for myself :-)
The 1st book takes place in the Wildwood, man, with these dreamy illustrations it made me want to go to the woods myself. The 2nd book takes place in the city i guess. I hope its just as great as the first book.
If you are looking for a nice present for a birthday (adult or child) or something for Sinterklaas (thats a Dutch tradition like christmas) this is the one :-)

TODAY

An artichoke in bloom with purple flowers
// the artichoke is starting to bloom purple flowers!//

Today is my boyfriends birthday, yay! Yesterday our parents came for dinner, it was the first time they met. It was so much fun, talking, laughing and eating the whole night long.
My mother gave us a beautiful bowl they'd bought at a pottery market, i'll make a photo soon, the colors are perfect!
I'm real happy living together with my man, but i'm not looking forward to october. I get to do lots of cool things in october, but i wont be seeing much of him :-(
Early october im going to Poland with 20 students for my work. Then we'll have some time together (autumn vacation) and we're going to Berlin (soooo cool, i'll have to post photo's where we will be sleeping, i cant wait, so exited!!) and then, ill go to Surinam, also for my work, with people from schools all over the Netherlands. Also really really really great!
So i dont really have anything to complain about, but the working schedule of my man is just opposite of mine, meaning that he doesnt have to work when i'm away, and has to work (on location) when im home...
I know, i know, i havent got anything to complain about, but im not looking foward to it, having a long distance relationship for a month.

What is a good sollution, do you have suggestions? Skype? Something else? Have you ever been in a long distance relationship? Id love to hear it!

// Im having a give away, for a Moleskine 2013 journal, dont forget! //

FOXES ON A TUESDAY

These photo's of foxes are made by Roeselien Raimond. Very pretty! Take a look on her website.
Foxes, they seem such wise animals. I've only seen flashes of them in the wild, a fiery red color that flashes by. I live very near a big park, i wonder of the foxes come out at night. My dream house would be somewhere where foxes and deers just come walking by my window. Maybe thats why i love the Wildwood book so much.
If you want some fox cuteness in your house, here's some suggestions!
Shop: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5

have a nice autumny day!!

MOLESKINE GIVE AWAY

This give away started out by me buying a new journal for 2013. I ALWAYS use Moleskine, their paper and layout makes me happy, yes really a journal with a nice clean layout makes me happy, im weird like that.
But because of a hiccup with the Dutch mail, my beloved journal didnt make it to my house. So i waited and waited, and then i sent a complaint. They handeled it very great, they did sent me a new one. But by now you're guessed it: the first one did arrive, as well as the new one...

So now i have a spare Moleskine journal, an accidental Moleskine :-) And id like to give you, my readers, a chance to have it.
Its the red 2013 notebook with one the one page the days of the week, and on the opposite page a page to write down notes, or blog ideas ofcourse...
What to do?
Just comment on this post why you would like to win it! (and follow this blog if you don't already do)
I'll draw a winner on october 12th.
Open to readers outside of the Netherlands aswell!

A PEEK - CROCHET

Hi you guys, have you noticed that i'm trying real hard to post on this blog? And thank you so much for commenting on the ripple blanket post, i'm going to try to make one! Its great to read comments, makes me happy when i see that you took your time to write something. I'm a bad commenter myself, i so often love blogposts somebody's put ont their blog, but forget to tell them in the comments. Ill make this a blogging goal aswell!
Ok, try to stay on track Annis, i just wanted to show you two photo's of my crocheting projects. The (bad Instgram) photo above is of the blanket ive tried to explain how to make it. As you can see it HUGE. I still have half the blanket to crochet, but it looks nice already right? All the threads are hanging on the side, but that look is growing on me, or it can also be that im becoming more lazy...
The (even worse) photo below is of my granny blanket. I wanted to make the cross granny blanket, but i couldnt figure out how to join them correctly, so now i'm crocheting a grey edge around all the squares. As you see, i've learned form my mistake and made a small blanket!

What are you working on? I'd love to hear!

Edit: these photo's are real bad, ill make some in the daylight soon!

A PEEK - HOME

A peek in my house. In front of my sittingroom window is a huge tree. I call it my sitting room, but its tiny, just a couch in a tiny room. But the tree, i love it, i dont need any curtains and in the evening it creates a lightshow on my wall. The first photo is of one of these natural light shows. Pretty right?!
I was a bit nervous when i showed this vase to my boyfriend, its one of those 'love it or leave it' objects. Well he didnt love it, but said it was ok :-)
I think its a funny vase, and well, sometimes you just need a funny vase.
The flower is actually an artichoke, it will dry out and over time a purple flower will grow in the middle. Have you ever dried artichokes?
Tomorrow ill share a crochet update, also via Instagram photo's, because thats the easiest at this moment.
Have a nice day!

ZUCCHINI LOVER

I found this image on Pinterest, it looks so yummie! Its from Heather Cristo's website.
Heres the recipe, if you want to try it just like i'll do:

Ingredients
·         -1 large zucchini, sliced into thin rounds
·         -2 tsp olive oil
·         -Kosher salt
·         Marinade:
·         -1 clove garlic, minced
·         -1 fresh red chili, minced
·         -2 tablespoons fresh mint leaves, minced
·         -2 Tablespoons olive oil
·         -2 Tablespoons red wine vinegar
Instructions
1.   Preheat a grill to medium-low.
2.   Combine the marinade ingredients and stir to combine. Season with Kosher salt and set aside.
3.   Drizzle the zucchini slices with the 2 teaspoons of olive oil and sprinkle them lightly with kosher salt. Place them on the grill with the largest pieces over the hottest part of the grill.
4.   Watch them carefully so they don’t burn, flipping them just as they start to soften and get good char marks on them.
5.   Continue to cook them until they have the marks on the other side as well.
6.   When they are cooked to tender on both sides, remove them from the grill and place them on a serving platter.
7.   Spoon the marinade over the top of the zucchini and serve immediately or chill up to several hours before serving.

* this is not my recipe, its from heathercristo.com

I WOULD LIKE TO LIVE IN THIS BOOK

Oh man, how often does it happen that when you are buying a present you come across something that is just right for meeee? And then you have to give it away… My sister Sarah bought this book when it first came out. Her birthday is in a few weeks and I’ve ordered part two for her, but… its going to be hard to let this one go.. Just look at those cute illustrations by Carson Ellis!
The storyline is also great, it’s a childrens book but it had me from the first chapter.
Enjoy! (if someone is brave enough to actually give this one to you :-) )

DIY - SAFETY PIN NECKLACE

This tutorial is so easy! Do you have a bunch of different safety pins lying around? I did! I'm sorting through all my stuff and i found safety pins everywhere. When i actually need a safety pin they go in hiding, but here i was, stuck with a bunch of safety pins...

What you'll need are about 30 pins in different sizes, and if you like in different colors. I used silver and gold, but thats just what i had lying around.
Sort the safety pins out: small to big. Make sure you have even number per size. String them on a necklace and voilá!
You could also bead the safety pins like so:

PINTEREST DAY

This week has been super hectic. My boyfriend is moving in, i've started working again after a very looooong summer holiday (yay for working at a school) and there is stuff i have to sort out everywhere... I have all these cool ideas that i want to share on this blog, DIY's, great website discoveries etc etc etc. But these days i'm already happy when i washed the dishes (which i didnt actually do, but HE did! <3 wow)
So i'm sharing my Pinterest account with you, and some other great account which should give you plenty inspiration. I hope i'll find some time soon, to take photo's when its not totally dark outside... And if i don't, i think i'm sitting on our new couch just being happy :-)
p.s. she has an ah-mah-zing blog too!
